Can You Cook Chicken Breast In an Air Fryer? 3 Best Air fryers

We typically like roasting chicken thighs and wings because they get extra crispy and stay so juicy. But can you cook chicken breast in an air fryer? Chicken breasts are known to dry out; however, air frying is a game-changer.

It’s easy to make chicken breasts with a 6QT air fryer. The quick cook time allows breasts to stay nice, tender, and get extra crispy from hot air circulation from the convection effect on this electric appliance.

It’s an actual surprise that all this is achieved without a drop of oil. The result is golden, moist, and full of flavor.  Air fryer chicken breast is one recipe you should try.

Whenever my wife requests fried chicken breast, I normally shrug and make her some air fried chicken breast covered by a sauce. My COSORI Smart 5.8QT Wi-Fi Air Fryer makes my cooking life easy. Isn’t that phenomenal? In recent times, this has been a part of our weekly rotation meal prep.

Air frying is so much faster and healthier than traditional frying and baking. And with it, possibilities are endless.

Save time: An air fryer uses hot air that circulates inside to cook the ingredients within the shortest time than ever as opposed to an oven. It will fry a chicken breast for about 20 to 30 minutes.

The crunch: The chicken breast should be crispy inside and crunchy on the outside for a flavorful taste and mouth watering look.

Healthy: High-end air fryers use no to little oil. With that, the hot air machine cuts down 80 percent of fats and calories.

Juicy: The dish will dry out and lose its juicy state when cooked with traditional ovens, but the chicken breast tenders, cooks through and juicy inside on the inside with spice and flavor.

How to Make Air Fryer Chicken Breast

  • Flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 large egg

First and foremost, a kitchen scale is one tool that will be vital in getting promising results. It will help you to measure the chicken breast weight. Ensure each chicken breast is 6 oz each.

  • Place flour and eggs in two separate bowls. In the third bowl, put together butter, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and lemon zest-season with black pepper and salt.
  • Now, dip the chicken breast into flour, and then eggs, and finally put it in the mixture. Press the coat.
  • Then, place the breasts in a cooking basket of your air fryer and cook at 30 up to 400 degrees F for 10 minutes. After 4 minutes, flip the fryer basket and cook for another 6 minutes. Make sure the coating is golden brown. By this time, the chicken is cooked through.

Do I Need Oil to air Fry Chicken Breast?

It may be a good idea, but it isn’t a must. Using some drops of olive oil will help in seasonings the machine and avoid sticking. Also, it may add some flavor and help it crisp sweetly on the outside.

Should I Marinate My Chicken Breasts? What about Brine?

It’s not a must to marinate the chicken, but it adds some juiciness and flavor. There are some marinades to marinate your plain breasts. Remember to check out whether it contains fat, flavor, salt, and acid. The favorite one could be Ginger Soy Marinade.

I usually use a mixture of half hot sauce and buttermilk. It’s a trick that I learned from my mother in law who is a professional cook.

When it comes to brines, just use simple warm water and salt instead of hot water. Brining creates one of the most succulent chicken breasts with just little effort.

With the help of an Air fryer together with brining, your recipe becomes a foolproof way to cook moist breasts every time.

In short words, the brine ensures tons of flavor and juiciness. The Air fryer chicken breasts recipe is a quick and easy way to get a delicious weeknight dinner. You can use this plate in sandwiches and salads throughout your busy week.

Well, with brine, everything is delicious and juicy, without breading. Notably, never ever dry. It’s simple:

  • Make brine
  • Rub the chicken breasts
  • Cook,
  • and rest

  1. Interesting that you say no oil is needed but 2T butter is used for 2 six ounce chicken breasts. No flour is in the recipe but it’s in the directions. I’m not saying it’s a bad recipe but it’s not as represented and not for someone needing to restrict certain things.
“Back in the day” my mom made oven fried chicken with butter and while it WAS tasty and never dry, it wasn’t so healthy.

    • Hi Liz, it seems I omitted the flour ‘ommison error’. When it comes to oil, you may opt to use it – All in all, it depends on what you want to achieve at the end of the day.
